Spoiler II Makes Debut at Atlanta Raceway
March of 1969 at the Atlanta 500 marked the debut for the Cyclone Spoiler II.  It isn't often remembered, but the Spoiler II did not race immediately in the 1969 season.  In particular, Mercury teams like the Wood Brothers ran a Torino skinned car at Daytona in 1969.   Same goes for the Boss 429 which was not legal to run immediately in 1969.   It also made its' debut at the Atlanta race.   To celebrate the new car and engine,  Ford paraded a selection of Spoiler II's before the race.
It's not known exactly how many Spoiler II's were present for the pre-race parade lap, but there were a bunch of them in Cale and Dan Gurney configurations.    Charlie Glotzbach was on the pole for the race in Cotton Owens' Charger 500.    Cale Yarborough won the race in the Wood Brothers Spoiler II.
